Amur Leopard

I am fascinated by all animals, and I wanted to pay tribute to this endangered leopard. Seeing it emerge from the shadows to come to us feels like it’s saying, “I exist, see me.”
The choice of black and white emphasizes the essential while giving it a more contemporary feel, further enhanced by the framing in a black American box.

Description

Amur Leopard, Pantheras pardus orientalis

This painting is made on black vegetable-tanned bovine leather sourced from a French tannery.
The leather is moistened to allow for sculpting using the “carving” technique with a tool.
It is then painted with special leather paint.
The leather is glued onto medium-density fiberboard and framed by a professional.
